Timeless and elegant chateau wedding in France, by Top Wedding planner in France

This beautiful intimate wedding is in the South of France. Captured at Domaine du Beyssac, an old abbey in the grounds of a gorgeous and rustic French Chateau, it is full of charm, timeless elegant style, classic decor and romance in abundance.

French wedding venue in South West France

Jennifer, our bride, looks effortless in her Mikaella Bridal wedding gown which compliments the simplicity of their wedding theme beautifully.

Marrying in a venue that comes with so much natural beauty, Jennifer and Christian wanted to keep their decor and styling simple. Along with their wedding planner, Clementine Ward of Awardweddings, they dressed the space with soft pink roses, romantic candlelight and a colour theme that drew inspiration from rosé wine, succulents and Jennifer’s engagement ring…

A FUN AND BEAUTIFUL DAY…

I found our venue through a web search, but I finally decided on this venue because of my wedding planner Clémentine Ward. I connected easily with Clémentine when we first spoke on the phone, and she made both my husband and I feel at ease with the process of planning a wedding. She worked with our budget, was very patient, and provided invaluable ideas that ultimately made our wedding the most FUN and beautiful day of our lives. As a bonus, she had been married at the same venue, and it ticked all the boxes for us. And ironically the owners are French-Canadian!

A ROLLER COASTER OF EMOTION…

Our ceremony started with the groom, our celebrant, and our flower girl and ring bearer walking to the alter. At this time we had an acoustic guitarist who sang “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran. The bride began walking down the aisle with her father after the second verse started. It was a simple ceremony (our close friend Kyle married us), which included moments of remembrance of family members we have lost, and humour from funny stories of the bride and groom. It was a roller coaster of emotion full of tears and laughter! There was a funny part, in which Jennifer noticed that Christian had forgotten to put on his boutonnière. We paused the wedding as the ring bearer (7 year old Crosby) ran to the fridge to retrieve it. It caused a lot laughter and a hilarious memory we will never forget. We finished with a walk down the grassy aisle while our guests threw rose petals on us.

BRANCHES, BLUSH PINK FLOWERS & EUCALYPTUS…

To keep on target of our budget, we reused décor from the ceremony in the reception. The venue for the reception was already a perfect place, made of wood with large windows. Fairy lights on the ceiling and Persian rugs on the floor created a gorgeous dance floor, while our flowers, an arch made of branches, and touches of blush pink flowers and eucalyptus pulled our theme together.

All of our flowers were provided by Les Ideales and followed our colour theme of blush, white, green and a bit of gold/brass. Again, we trusted our florist and allowed her the creativity to make something beautiful for us.

A TRUSTED EYE…

Our photographer was Mark Ward. He was the best! He made us feel comfortable, got gorgeous shots of the dress, accessories, and the entire venue. He caught candid moments of everyone, as well as had ideas for more posed photos before and after the ceremony. We were very flexible and trusted his eye and are thrilled with the results! As a bonus, he knew the venue well (had been married to our wedding planner there) so he had done the research on the perfect spots, lighting, and even knew when I should remove my heels to avoid getting them caught in the grass!

ANY ADVICE?

Breathe and trust in the process. And really really try to enjoy every second of it! It will be perfect no matter what.

Because we are from Canada and decided to get married in the south of France, we trusted out vendors and wedding planner with so much. It was a blessing in disguise, because although we couldn’t visit the venue, try the food, or have a makeup and hair test-run, it meant I had less control over the fine details, making it a less stressful but very enjoyable experience! Giving our vendors the space to be creative was all that mattered. They all helped create a most magical day that we and our guests will never forget.
